Tickets on sale today for West Virginia Music Hall of Fame show

Tickets are now on sale for the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame's induction gala.

The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame's second induction ceremony will be held November 6, 2008 at the Cultural Center Theater in Charleston. The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live throughout the state on WV Public Television.

This year's inductees are: Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, Phyllis Curtin, Robert Drasnin, the Lilly Brothers and Don Stover, Charlie McCoy, Ann Baker, Maceo Pinkard, Red Sovine and Frankie Yankovic

All five living inductees will be in attendance to receive their awards. Presenters include bluegrass vet Peter Rowan, country singer Connie Smith, John "Some Kind of Wonderful" Ellison, legendary producer Cowboy Jack Clements, pianist Bob Thompson, Grammy winner Tim O'Brien, studio musicians (and "Hee Haw" band members) Wayne Moss and Russ Hicks, WV Symphony maestro Grant Cooper.

Former Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon will be accepting the posthumous award for Maceo Pinkard, the Bluefield songwriter who penned the Globetrotters' theme "Sweet Georgia Brown."

Performances are scheduled by John Ellison, the Montgomery native who penned the classic R&B tune "Some Kind of Wonderful"; Everett Lilly; Peter Rowan; Connie Smith; Robert Drasnin; Randall Reed-Smith; Tim O'Brien; and Johnny Staats & Robert Shafer.

Tickets are $38 for general admission, available at Taylor Books and through the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame web site www.wvmusichalloffame.com. Premium tickets are $250 each and include admittance to the Governor's Reception and preferred seating. Premium tickets are available thru the HoF office (304/342-4412).
