Throughout history, artists have tried to interpret the emotions and moods that music elicits. Artist Wassily Kandinsky saw each instrument in the orchestra as being related to a color that encompassed the instrument's sound and timbre. Like artists portraying musicians, there have been musicians who have tried to create sounds that expresses masterpieces they have seen.
The artists who enter their works in this show will be taking on the task of visually expressing the love affair with music that characterizes human creativity.
The Renaissance Gallery is a small artist co-op located in Huntington in the old Huntington High School building.
The co-op of a dozen artists draws its members from the surrounding Tri-State area of western West Virginia, southern Ohio and eastern Kentucky.
Many members are also members of the Tri-State Arts Association, although this is not required. Each year, the group hosts an exhibition of Miniature Art.
The exhibition is open to all North American residents 18-years or older. This is a new exhibition that is to join the traditional Miniature Exhibition and is to become an annual event. All fine art media except copier reproductions will be accepted. Artwork must be the original and have been completed in the last year.
For a prospectus, send a self-address stamp envelop to: The Renaissance Art Gallery, 900 Eighth Street, Suite 20, Huntington, WV 25701 or e-mail to gallerywv@yahoo.com.
