HUNTINGTON -- Looking for a place to dance and perhaps catch a live national act? Check out Fluid Nightclub located at 611 4th Ave., in Huntington.

Fluid is in the former Monkeybar building. Opened in February of 2008, the club has seen a major overhaul.

Owner Rick Mark wanted to bring something new to Huntington and liven up the bar scene. Monkeybar never officially closed after the renovations to the building, however, the name was changed to Fluid. The dance club revives the former Monkeybar name when concerts take place.

The overhaul brought change to the club in the form of additional bars. Upstairs now has a VIP lounge with a fully-stocked bar, five flat screen TVs, framed pictures, couches as well as white retro tables and chairs on top of new white tile. The VIP lounge overlooks the main stage. Downstairs now features two bars, one of which is a ladies-only fully-stocked bar complete with two dancing poles near the main stage.

Fluid's regular hours are 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday. Fluid is closed Sunday through Wednesday unless there is a special event or concert.

Drink specials include 50-cent well drinks from 9-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Jaeger merchandise giveaways occur weekly on Friday and Saturday.

The club is normally open as a dance club with three huge projection screens showing music videos.

Upcoming concerts include: Foundation and Displaced on July 6, Dope and Bobaflex on July 23, Ashes Divide, featuring a member of A Perfect Circle on July 29, A Life Once Lost and Emmure on July 31, Darkest Hour and Misery Signals on Aug. 12, Testament on Aug. 17, and Walls of Jericho on Aug. 18.

Many more concerts are being discussed in the coming months with hopefuls including Flogging Molly and Dillinger Escape Plan. Next month will feature a month long "So You Think You Can Dance"-based competition with a possible celebrity guest judge.
