HUNTINGTON -- Want your Olympics with a whole lot more beer pong, and a whole lot less Beijing smog?
Well, look no further.
Mac-Reedo's, the bar and grill, formerly known as Mac's, 745 7th Ave., Huntington, is in the Olympic spirit and will be offering competition in many Olympic sports and adapted events starting Friday, Aug. 8. All participants will receive a free T-shirt. Winners will receive Mac-Reedo's Olympic medals.
The Olympics will open with Beer Pong singles and doubles. Rules for Beer Pong can be found on www.gotpong.com. Singles competition will begin at 7 p.m., and doubles will begin immediately after the singles games. Beer Pong will be officiated by Heather Watson.
Baseball/wiffle ball will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 9. There is no wiffle ball entry fee. Teams signed up of three or more will receive discounts on beverages and one free lunch item.
A wrestling (arm wrestling) competition will go down at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10. There are no entry fees. You may go up against some former Marshall athletes.
Fencing with fun plastic foils will provide participants an unusual opportunity to score points with touches. The competition will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11. There is no fee to enter, and those who do will get $3 well drinks.
A cycle course will be set up at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. Participants must bring their own bike and $2 entry fee and will receive $10 gift certificates for competing.
Some old-fashioned table tennis will rule the day on the deck at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, for singles, with doubles matches immediately following. There is no entry fee.
A Home Run Derby will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. Contestants will be pitched to with five rag balls. There is no entry fee.
The Olympics will move indoors for the weekend for traditional bar competitions in pool (8 Ball) at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. Quarters for the table to enter. This competition will be limited to six participants. Saturday night will feature a darts 301 competition with quarters required for participation. The single-elimination tournament for the medal will begin at 6 p.m.
Indoor golf has become popular at Mac-Reedo's and challengers are lining up for 18 holes of Golden Tee to begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. Fee is $3.
The parking lot will be become a basketball court at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, when a Basketball World Competition will take place. Tuesday, tennis enthusiasts will go to war in the best of three matches beginning at 4 p.m. There are no fees for these two events.
Our shooting competition will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. Shoot in an arcade setting for no entry fee and try to win the gold.
Amateurs will show their strength in a weightlifting show at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. Two distributor guys also will go head-to-head to show who's best in this competition. Judging of this competition will be governed by Shannon, the bartender.
