Smokin' on the Riverfront
Here's a look at the 13th annual Huntington Rib & Music Fest
WHERE: Harris Riverfront Park
WHEN: 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7; from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 9 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10.
HOW MUCH: Admission is $2 for adults before 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Except for lunchtime Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., when admission is free.
After 5 p.m. each day adults are $5. Sunday, admission is $1 for Coca Cola Family Day for adults. Children 12 and under are free all weekend compliments of Tri-State Family.
WHO'S THERE: Five nationally-traveling rib vendors as well as local favorites, Bacon's Barbecue.
OTHER GRUB: The festival also features specialty food vendors such as Bloomin' Onions, Dippin' Dots, Rick's Lemonade, Strawberry Express and Kettle Korn.
THE MUSIC: National acts nightly include: The Marshall Tucker Band on Thursday night presented by The DAWG & The Planet, the WTCR Jamboree featuring Cody McCarver and Jake Owen on Friday night presented by WTCR, the Diamonds, the Marvelettes, and the Clovers on Saturday night presented by B 97, and Blues Sunday with Lil' Joe, The Carpenter Ants and Larry Whitt presented by The River & Magic.
WHAT ELSE: Enjoy inflatables, a car and bike show, karaoke and games (under the dining tent), face painting, clowns, chalk art and caricature artist on Sunday for Coca-Cola Family Day.

ON DECK: Some of the other upcoming events at Harris Riverfront Park include: Saturday, Aug. 16, the last Huntington Symphony Orchestra Picnic With the Pops concert; Aug. 22-23, the Starlight Cinema, a family movie series; Sept. 6, X-Fest, a heavy metal and modern rock festival featuring a dozen music acts on two stages.
