Fun ways to celebrate Halloween
Get those Reese Cups out of the lockbox; it's time for some Halloweening.
Here are a few places to get your Halloween on:
Spooktacular: Camden Park's 10th annual Spooktacular runs 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday with more than 20 rides and attractions including the Haunted Train, the Terror Trail Walk-Thru, as well as the historic dark ride, The Haunted House. Tickets to Spooktacular are $18 for people ages 3 and older. Children under three are admitted for free. The park also distributed coupons for free children's admission to area schools. Dr. Dekay's House of Screams: Take Blue Sulphur Road off of U.S. Route 60 out to the Camp Arrowhead Boy Scout Camp. Haunted House runs 6-11 p.m. for a special Fright Night Friday, Oct. 31. It's $10 per person for Fright night. All money goes to the Tri-State Area Council, BSA. Call 304-523-3408.
The Pumpkin House: A Halloween is not a Halloween without a trip to the world-famous Pumpkin House, that's Ric Griffith's Pumpkin House, located at 740 Beech St., in Kenova.
Lit nightly with a growing pumpkin population that will peak out at just over 3,000 lit jack-o-lanterns.
It's free but you can eat the pumpkin guts if you like as the Wayne County Habitat for Humanity sells Pumpkin butter, pumpkin bread, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, as well as other treats such as soft drinks and hot chocolate nightly 5:30 to 11 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 2.
Field Of Screams: The Maize at Cooper Farms runs its Field of Screams on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at The Maize, which is located behind Milton Middle School, off of U.S. Route 60. Cost is $8 per person. No tractors will run during the haunting. Call 304-743-0548 or 304-634-MAZE during business hours.
Haunted Tunnel: The Haunted Tunnel runs 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at the junction of Ohio 93 and U.S. 52 in Ironton. Get off at the exit (across from the new BW'3s) and look for the gargantuan, creepy tunnel to nowhere. Cost is $5 and the Ironton Lions Club gives all the proceeds to the civic organization's community projects.
