The old saying goes, you travel most by standing still. And sure enough, if you wait long enough, just about everybody cool rolls through the Tri-State.

Here's a look at a few of the music tours coming through the area this weekend.

Big draw McGraw: The singer and actor Tim McGraw brings his soldout Southern Voice Tour to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena on Saturday with special guest the red-hot Lady Antebellum. Also on the bill is the Lost Trailers. The concert is sold out, but if lady luck is on your side, you might be able to win a ticket or two from the Tri-State's country stations, WTCR-FM, 103.3, and WDGG-FM, 93.7.

Rocking Mountain Stage: Mountain Stage with host Larry Groce gets its Southern-fried groove on at 7 p.m. Sunday with a stacked bill of rockers including: the Memphis soul-soaked sound of Lucero, the Tri-State's own blazing guitar hero Bud Carroll and the Southern Souls, veteran alt-country rockers the Bottle Rockets, newcomers Sons of Bill and last but not least, rocking the mandolin like only he can, Sam Bush and the Sam Bush Band. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. show is at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21. Call ahead to get tickets as the last two Mountain Stage concerts have sold out. Tickets, call 800-594-TIXX or visit www.mountainstage.org.

With a metal yell: more, more, more: Former TVT Records recording artists, and nationally traveling metal monsters Bobaflex just packed out the V Club a month ago. The stellar five-man-band swoops back in from Mason County to the V Club, 741 6th Ave., Huntington to kick out the Friday night lights. Opening the show are Tri-State-based metal acts Stitch Rivet and Zeroking. Also on the bill Broken Shadows. Tickets are $13 advance or $15 at the door. Go online at www.myspace.com/wvvclub to see other upcoming shows including Once: A Pearl Jam tribute on Thursday, Feb. 18, and on Saturday, Feb. 20, Bud Carroll and the Southern Souls.

Send me down to N'awlins: Fat Tuesday has come and gone, but it would be a sin to miss getting a groove on to that N'awlins-boiled funk gumbo cooked up by Dr. John. The five-time Grammy Award-winning artist brings his tasty blend of rhythm and blues, funk, psychedelic rock and creole to the Clay Center at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21. Tickets are $20, $30 and $40 and can be purchased online at www.theclaycenter.org, by phone at 304-561-3570 or in person at the Clay Center box office.
