HUNTINGTON -- Looking for grilled food, a place to watch sports, or an ice cold drink? Look no further than Mac-Reedo's at 745 7th Ave., in Huntington.

Opened in February by Connie Reed, the sports bar and grill features a huge variety of food and drinks along with large outside deck for those looking to get out in the sun.

Reed wants the bar to be a good place to relax and wind down after a hard day's work or to enjoy a sporting event with friends. Mac-Reedo's mission statement is: "To give the customer what the customer wants in a clean and friendly environment with quality drinks, goods, snacks, recreational gaming activities in a sports/neighborhood bar atmosphere."

Reed proudly says that watching a game at her bar is the next best thing to being at the game. The inside bar features large-screened TVs, as well as TVs on the outside deck. There also are darts, billiards and a jukebox.

Friendly attitudes are everywhere at Mac-Reedo's -- the whole bar is themed around having fun and showing appreciation for hard workers around the Tri-State. Almost every day of the month there is a special appreciation day for a different type of job, such as teachers, military, police, lawyers, EMS workers and more. All include specials on food and drinks.

Every Sunday is Service Industry Night, giving specials deals to those who work in different businesses in West Virginia.

There are also many other daily or weekly theme events such as a Bike Month Celebration, Stevie Wonder Day, Gardening 101 Classes, Safe Boating Week and Pet Week. The third Thursday of every month there is karaoke and on May 26, there will be a wings eating contest.

The chef Kenny Mauge even has his own appreciation day, and for good reason, according to customers. Some of the more popular food items include crinkle cut fries, wings and burgers, which are all 100 percent Angus beef. Popular drinks among patrons include Blue Moon, Thunder punch (a mixture of Rum, Soda and Hi-C), Firewater (a hot Cinnamon shot) and Guinness. Bud Light, Blue Moon and Guinness are actually on tap at the bar all the time. The menu also features pizzas, salads, fried pickles, chicken nachos, sandwiches and the ability to build your own 8-oz. Angus burger with items like blue cheese, mushroom swiss or bacon cheese.

Mac-Reedo's is open seven days a week. The hours are 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday. The bar is open at 11 a.m. Friday for lunch and closes at 3 a.m. The bar is open from noon to 3 a.m. Saturday.

Happy hour is 3 to 7 p.m. daily and features several different specials, as well as free popcorn.

Currently undergoing $200,000 in renovations, the bar will soon offer the upstairs as rentals for banquets and private parties.
