Cabell County Special Olympics

The 2012 campaign is under way for The United Way of the River Cities with a goal of $1.25 million. Reaching that goal helps fund programs for more than 20 Tri-State agencies that provide vital services in Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio. One of those partners is the Cabell County Special Olympics.

Program mission: Dedicated to providing individuals with intellectual disabilities a sports and training competition in a variety of olympic-type sports.

Outcome: Athletes will become more physically fit; will improve sports skills; will improve their knowledge of sport(s) rules. Volunteers will increase acceptance and awareness of students with disabilities
