United Way campaign under way

Nov. 27, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

The 2012 campaign is under way for The United Way of the River Cities with a goal of $1.25 million. Reaching that goal helps fund programs for more than 20 Tri-State agencies that provide vital services in Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio. One of those partners is the Goodwill Family Service and Goodwill Life Skills.

Family Service program mission: Provides therapeutic counseling services to individuals, children and families.

Family Service outcome: Individuals will exhibit coping skills, and knowledge and understanding of those skills. Working age individuals are better equipped to retain or obtain employment as a result of counseling.

Goodwill Life Skills program mission: Assists consumers in understanding the impact of their personal life on their work life, as well as the skills needed to be successful on the job.

Goodwill Life Skills outcome: Individuals who receive life skills instruction will be better equipped to make good choices in their professional and personal lives. Consumers will be better informed in money management. The general public will be better informed through 6 community outreach events.

How you can help: Give through the campaign where you work or visit www.giveunitedway.org. For more information, contact Scott Neill at scott.neill@unitedwayrivercities.org or 304-523-8929, Ext. 2.
