Casey Mears' #13 Geico NASCAR to be at World of Wheels
HUNTINGTON — Gentlemen start your engines and get out the car polish.
March is in like a Mustang as the Big Sandy Superstore Arena gets turned into the Tri-State’s coolest and largest garage for the 36th World of Wheels.
More than 155 hot rods, custom and classic cars will fill the arena floor Friday through Sunday, March 1-3 during the Tri-State’s largest indoor car show that will also feature a car corral, a model car contest, the Gotham Knight and his Bat Rod.
Although signed on too late to appear on promo posters, World of Wheels also reeled in a display of one of the #13 Geico race cars, a NASCAR Sprint Series Car driven by Casey Mears for German Racing.
Mears, who is out in Phoenix racing this weekend, was in 20th place and moving up when his Ford Fusion car was hit by Tony Stewart. Mears is a former winner of the Coca-Cola 600 and the son of Indy Car racer Roger Mears.
In addition to the Geico car inside, the Geico’s colorful gecko mascot will be roaming World of Wheels on the inside and parked out on the plaza will be Mears’ graphic-wrapped 34-foot-trailer that carries the car in style around the country.
World of Wheels will feature more than $5,000 in cash and prizes awarded for the best in rods, antiques, customs, 4x4s, motorcycles, trucks and more.
Cost is $7; $3.50 children under 12; free for birth-3 years.
