Registration open for Showshoe run in the mud event

February 16, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. -- Registration is open for the Renegade Playground Challenge race, which is Saturday, Aug. 25, at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia.

The 5k race will take runners through the many of the ski slopes and trails at the resort, while also navigating a dozen or more obstacles with names such as Everest, Wall Banger, Tunnel of Doom, Nutcracker, Jack and Jill, Speed Bumps, Shark Bait, and more.

Those how finish the race will true Renegades and get a T-shirt and free beer for their efforts.

"We're very happy about bringing the Renegade Playground Challenge to West Virginia for the first time," Dave Soucy, one of the co-founders of the Renegade Playground Challenge said in a release. "Snowshoe Mountain Resort is awesome, and the Renegade Playground Challenge will give people a way to compete while having more fun than they've probably had since they were a kid. Monkey bars, mud holes, running across streams, climbing walls -- all the stuff your Mom used to yell at you about."

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to The Snowshoe Foundation, which support community organizations in Pocahontas, Randolph and Webster counties. For a full calendar of Renegade Playground Challenge events, go to www.RenegadePlayground.com.
