Young nail artist beautifies residents at River's Bend Health Care in South Point
SOUTH POINT -- Micah Matney, a seventh-grader at Fairland Middle School, received a professional nail kit for Christmas.
She loves doing creative nail designs and has aspirations to become a professional nail technician. Matney recently has been using her new nail kit to do nails for some very special clients.
Matney's aunt, Jenny Deal of South Point, works at River's Bend Health Care, a skilled nursing, rehabilitation and long-term care facility in South Point. The two came up with a plan that gives Matney an opportunity to practice her skills while female residents can enjoy an afternoon of pampering. Since Feb. 1, the aspiring nail artist has been spending almost every Saturday with the River's Bend ladies as part of a special group activity.
"She loves it, and the residents are delighted," said Deal, who also has participated in the event with her niece. "Micah sets up a nail station just like a professional salon. She meets with each client and decides what color or designs each lady wants. Some want elaborate designs, some just want a solid color. Everyone seems very happy with their results," Deal said.
Matney has been invited to return to River's Bend and has said she will keep coming back as often as she can.
