Rides, shows, games and more abound at area fairs
HUNTINGTON -- Get ready for corn dogs, funnel cakes, demolition derbies and carnival rides -- county fair season is here.
There are plenty of options and summertime fun coming to a fairground near you in the coming weeks. Here's a look at the basic details for several upcoming county fairs in the region.
When: July 22-27
Time: Gates open at 3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday. Gates close at 11 p.m.
Where: Pumpkin Park, Milton
Tickets: Regular daily admission is $8 (includes carnival rides). Seniors $5 (no rides). Children ages 5 and under are admitted free but will need to purchase ride tickets. Weekly pass is $33 but must be purchased prior to opening day. All prices include parking.
Entertainment: Steel Magnolia (8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27), Gospel Night (July 25), pageants, local bands, Cabell County Fair Idol, parade, equine events, tractor/truck events, demolition derby, 4-H events, Motocross racing, fireworks (10:30 p.m. July 27), mud bog, kids games, carnival rides from Gambill Amusements and much more.

Lawrence County (Ohio)
When: July 5-13
Time: Rides open at 4 p.m. Friday, July 5. Ride hours for the rest of the fair are 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and a noon Friday through Sunday. Gates are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Lawrence County Fairgrounds, Proctorville, Ohio
Tickets: $10 per day, plus $5 parking; Full nine-day ticket is $40 and a full parking pass is $20.
Entertainment: Carnival rides by Michael's Amusements, Inc., Truck pulls, Demolition Derby, Motocross, Horse Pulls, Phillip Fox Band (July 8), David Lee Murphy (July 10), Chris Cagle (July 11), World Championship Rodeo, fireworks (July 12), exhibits and 4-H events including, games, livestock show and sales and more.

When: July 13-20
Time: 4 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday (rides open at 6 p.m.), 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays (rides open at noon), 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday (rides open at noon).
Where: Ernest Page Jr. Fairgrounds, Putnam County Park, Rt. 62, Eleanor, W.Va.
Tickets: $8 daily (ages 5 and up); Family Day, Sunday July 14, $5 per person (ages 5 and up); Senior Citizens Day, Thursday, July 18, $6; Season tickets are $30 (ages 5 and up) and must be purchased in advance or on opening day at the game. Where: Camden Park, 5000 Waverly Road, Huntington
Tickets: $12 plus tax, ages 3 and under are free, seniors ages 55 and up $8; four-day pass $35; free parking
Entertainment: Beauty pageant, children's games, local and area vendors, clowns and face painting, horse show and 4-H livestock show, amusement rides, garden produce, arts and crafts, canned foods, quilts, 4-H projects, concerts by Ronnie McDowell (Aug. 7), Primitive Quartet (Aug. 8), Good Shepherd Quartet (Aug. 9) and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver (Aug. 8).

Time: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Saturday; 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday.
Where: Mason County Fairgrounds, Point Pleasant
Tickets: $8 per day (includes entertainment, stage shows and rides), ages 2 and under are free. Season is $25 for all week (does not include rides). Season pass holders may get a daily ride stamp for $5. Passes must be purchased in advance. Tuesday is Senior Citizens Day where ages 60 and over are admitted free. Wednesday and Thursday are Discount Days with general admission tickets for $5 until 3 p.m.
