Cirque Eloize's Cirkopolis performances set for Sept.

Jul. 16, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Take a journey to a world of comic book wonder and imagination as you witness flying acrobats and action-packed sequences in Cirque Eloize's Cirkopolis in two performances Tuesday, Sept. 24 and 25, at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

Show times will be at 7:30 p.m. each night.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19 at the arena box office, www.ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets or by phone at 800-745-3000. Tickets are $34.75, $44.75 and VIP table tickets are $79. Additional fees may apply.

With Cirkopolis, Cirque Eloize dives into a vibrant imaginary world, pushing the boundaries of visual and audio innovation through different forms of projections. The unique imagery that takes us into this industrial yet fanciful sculptural universe is inspired by the rich visual world of comic books.

In this scenic universe, dance, circus and theatre meet, and the characters and objects are brought to life by the breath of poetry and musicality. Awash with humor, Cirkopolis is a place where reality encounters fantasy and the pursuit of our true place in the world reveals its vital importance. It will plunge the spectator into true audio and visual vertigo.

The 12 artists will perform several advanced acrobatic disciplines, including diabolo, Spanish web, teeterboard, Cyr wheel and contortion. Projections on the back wall, complete with pivoting panels used by the performers, contribute to the dream-like décor inspired by a surrealistic and clown-like vision.
