Wayne High School Class of 1948 reunites

WAYNE -- Sixteen members of the Wayne High School Class of 1948 attended a 65th reunion May 25 at the school's cafeteria.

Dallas Hall, the class secretary, served as the evening's emcee. Hall also traveled from Missouri, which the longest distance from the reunion.

Hall, Ted Adkins, Betty (Osburn) Burks, Katie (Williamson) Thompson, Eloise (Dean) Ward, and Evelyn (Booth) Massie served on the reunion planning committee. Adkins of Speed, W.Va., incurred all of the mailing costs for the event.

Paula (Booth) Stamper, daughter of deceased class member Donald Booth, and Mitzi (McCoy) Blankenship, niece of Harold Fry, a class member who could not attend, served as hostesses in providing the meal and decorations. Harold and Lovella Fry's daughter Nancy Maynard helped with decorations.

The class started in the fall of 1944 with 130 members and 92 graduated. There are 51 living members of the class.
