Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary volunteers attend special luncheon
HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Huntington Hospital took some time on Friday to recognize its volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week.
The hospital recognized the efforts of multiple volunteers and also accepted a $100,000 donation from the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary to benefit the Hoops Family Children's Hospital. The auxiliary raises money through the hospital's gift shop and through special events coordinated by volunteers. The auxiliary has donated $1.4 million to the children's hospital in the six years since 2007, which was initially a 10-year goal set by the auxiliary.
"Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to support this cause. Our volunteers take their commitments very seriously and I am so proud of our accomplishments," Marian Tissenbaum, president of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary, said in a release. "... I feel it was an honor to have been part of such a great project for our community."
Volunteers throughout Cabell Huntington Hospital assist staff and visitors each day, and they were recognized for that work Friday during a special luncheon that included Huntington Mayor Steve Williams, who proclaimed Friday as "Cabell Huntington Hospital Volunteer Services Day."
