Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts event to raise money

HUNTINGTON -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State is hoping a few strikes and spares will help the organization raise some money.

The 27th Annual Bowl For Kids' Sake is planned for Monday, May 13, at the Strike Zone Bowling Center in Huntington. The fundraiser offers two bowling times at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The agency, which provides friendship and mentorship for children in the Huntington, Ironton and Ashland area, encourages groups to form teams of four to five people to solicit pledges and bowl during the event. A minimum of $125 in pledges per person is required for participation.

In conjunction with this event area stock brokers will compete in the "Battle of the Brokers," law firms will compete in the "Battle of the Barristers," Realtors will compete in the "Battle of the Realtors," banks will compete in the "Battle of the Bankers," car dealerships will compete in the "Battle of the Car Dealers" and CPA firms will compete in the "Make Your Deductions Count" competition. Those firms and companies that qualify for these designations are encouraged to sign up.

Cumulative prize packages are available based on the amount of funds raised.
