Citizen of the Year appreciates recognition

Apr. 14, 2013 @ 11:30 PM

I am taking this opportunity to thank The Herald-Dispatch for selecting me to receive the 2012 Citizen of the Year Award.

Also, I thank all of the people who responded to the article in last Sunday's paper, those who called with congrats, and the many people who have sent me cards. It is not every day that I get recognition of such great magnitude, and I know I have not achieved any success without support from my NAACP membership, colleagues, family and friends.

Again, thanks.

The Kiwanis Club of Huntington thanks the community for their support of the 17th Annual Spaghetti Dinner. A special thank you to the First United Methodist Church in Huntington for the use of its location, especially the kitchen, and to all the volunteers, both members of the Kiwanis Club and of the Kiwanis family.

Proceeds of this annual event benefit the Kiwanis Day Care Center, sponsored youth programs and other community service projects.

Hospital gives great care to a woman's husband

I want to express our sincere thanks to Cabell Huntington Hospital for the excellent care my husband, Joe, received. Dr. O'Hanlon discovered his problem. Dr. Wilson removed his gall bladder and Dr. Rayyan removed a stone from his duct.

He experienced the emergency room twice and stays in the ICU, 3rd and 5th floors. He also went to the Transitional Care Unit. Staff members in all areas were extremely caring and treated not only my husband but also me very well. He is now having therapy in the Smart Center and we are very pleased with his progress.

Woman receives a birthday recognition

A special thank you for the nice article Brenda Lucas wrote for The Herald-Dispatch. Thank you to all of my family, those of you who called, left messages and sent cards. It was so nice to hear from those friends from so long ago and even those who just thought of me.

Thanks for making my 84th birthday the best one yet! May God Bless each one of you and thanks again. I love you all!
