School boards to meet Tuesday
HUNTINGTON -- The school boards for Cabell and Wayne counties will meet for their respective meetings Tuesday, April 16.
Cabell will meet at 5:15 p.m. and Wayne at 6:15 p.m., both for special meetings to set the levy rates. Cabell will meet at 2850 5th Ave., Huntington. Wayne will conduct its meeting at Spring Valley High School, 1 Timber Wolf Drive, Huntington.
The agenda for Cabell County includes a presentation from Katherine Cox from the Huntington Museum of Art on the different programs that have been presented to children this school year.
Board members also will vote on technology purchases for the new Huntington East Middle School and Southside and Nichols elementary schools.
The new middle school would get 25 network switches and 46 fiber connection modules from nCompass Networks for $186,624. Southside and Nichols would get 265 replacement computers from nCompass Networks for $240,885. That also includes a 19-inch monitor for each.
Board members also will vote on textbook adoption for high school and middle school social studies.
At the Wayne County School Board meeting, the 2014 Teacher of the Year finalist and winners will be announced.
