Huntington art students place at stamp contest
HUNTINGTON -- Several Huntington High School art students recently placed at the National Junior Duck Stamp Competition.
Each student had to design a potential U.S. Postal Service stamp that reflects conservation and waterfowl, which requires both artistic ability and knowledge of the conservation efforts and research of waterfowl.
First-place winners included Savannah Elkins, Shelby Hammons, Jacob Ketchum and Abigail Runyon; second-place winners were Haeven Chapman, Kailisha Garred and Kayla Hutchison; and third-place winners were Sa-Rai Robinette and Jakita Rowe.
Hammons received best in show for the state.
