Huntington benefits from group tourism

May. 12, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

Did you know that YOU can be a part of the economic success of local tourism! Have you ever thought what would happen if you brought your group or association to our community for their annual meeting? Let's take a look at what those resulting numbers could be.

Say you had 60 attendees total.

They stay two nights, for a total of 120 room nights.

If the average room rate is $95:

Total room revenue = $11,400.

Room tax = $684.

Sales tax = $684.

Local tax, if staying downtown = $114.

Gas and travel expense = $1,200 if the 60 attendees spend approx $20 per day.

Dining, day 1 = $2,520 if each spends approx $12 lunch, $30 dinner.

Dining, day 2 = $1,200 if each spends approx $8 breakfast, $12 lunch.

Shopping/Entertainment = $3,000 if each spends approx $50 over 2 days.

Total potential revenue = $20,802.

Opportunity: Now consider that impact if we averaged several of these meetings per week! Contact CVB Sales Manager Jake Sharp on how the CVB can support inviting your group to Cabell County.
