May. 25, 2013 @ 11:15 PM

SALT ROCK -- Salt Rock Elementary School hosted a career fair for its fifth-grade students on May 20, bringing in several professionals from the area to discuss their jobs with the kids.

"We wanted to give them a variety of careers that they may not have heard of or thought of before," said Ida Wagner, the school's counselor. "I'd like for them to know what education and training they have to have for these careers."

Among those who attended were two troopers from the West Virginia State Police, a nurse from the neonatal intensive care unit at Cabell Huntington Hospital, a doctor, engineer, a baker, Barboursville Mayor Paul Turman, EMT's with the Cabell County Emergency Medical Service (with their ambulance) and a reporter from The Herald-Dispatch.
