Buns on Bikes ride set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown
HUNTINGTON — Organized by David Amsbary, the Buns on Bikes has been a part of the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival since 2009.
This year, the ride has been expanded to five miles. It starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27 when it leaves Pullman Square with a ride to the Ritter Park Memorial Arch and back.
There is a $15 entry donation for adults, $10 for children with no more than $30 for an immediate family.
Registration will take place from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. at Pullman Square. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital that is under construction at Cabell Huntington Hospital. A rolling safety escort will ride along on the route.

Events start at 8 a.m. with the annual Bun Run 5K, followed by the Buns on Bikes bike tour. The ride starts at 9:30 a.m. at Pullman Square with a route to Ritter Park and back. Other events include the hot dog eating contest, root beer chugging contest, homemade hot dog sauce competition and Wiener dog races.

7:30 a.m. — 5K Run & Walk registration (at Big Sandy Superstore Arena’s Soupy Sales Plaza)
8 a.m. — annual Bun Run 5K and "Walk Your Buns Off" Charity Walk (departs 8th Street and 3rd Avenue)
9 a.m. — Contest Registration begins (beside Pullman stage/Pullman clock)
9:30 a.m. — Buns on Bikes 5-mile bicycle tour of Huntington (departs from the 3rd Avenue race track)
9:40 a.m. — Opening Ceremonies (presenting colors; prayer; National Anthem; Mayor Williams; first donation presentation to Cabell Huntington Children's Hospital; Welcome; etc.)
10 a.m. — All Vendors; Car Show; KidZone; PetZone begins
10 a.m. — WTCR’s Texaco Country Showdown Finals (Pullman Stage)
10:40 a.m. — All-breed Dog Costume Contest/Pooch Parade (3rd Avenue race track)
11a.m. — WTCR’s Texaco Country Showdown Finals (Pullman stage)
11:40 a.m. — Announcements/line up for All-Breed Dog Races (3rd Avenue race track)
11:45 a.m. — All-Breed Exhibition Dog Races (3rd Avenue race track)
Noon — Annual West Virginia Wiener Dog Races & $100 Dachshund Dash Championship Race
12:55 p.m. — Announcement of the winner of the WTCR Colgate Country Showdown
1 p.m. — Headliner Phoenix Stone live in concert (Pullman Stage)
2 p.m. — Stewart’s Hot Dog Eating Contest (courtyard)
2:20 p.m. — Frostop Rootbeer Chuggin' Contest (courtyard)
