Downtown prepping for packed Saturday with concerts, MU game

Feb. 13, 2013 @ 04:30 PM

HUNTINGTON — Love is in the air this time of year and there are many things going on downtown this weekend.

Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley will be at the SMG-managed Big Sandy Superstore Arena for their Locked and Reloaded tour with special guest Thomas Rhett.

Just a couple blocks away on Fourth Avenue, Motown legend Smokey Robinson will be at the historic Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center with tickets still available by calling the Marshall Artists Series at 304-696-6656 or ordering online at Ticketmaster.com.  The box office at the Keith Albee will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb, 16.

On campus, Marshall University men’s basketball team will play the University of Memphis Tigers.  Both concerts start at 7:30 p.m. while the basketball game starts at 8 p.m.. Ticket holders for all downtown Huntington events are encouraged to come early and avoid last minute traffic congestion.

“Since there will be lots of great events and lots of people coming to downtown Huntington this weekend, we encourage you to come down early and have a great meal and do some shopping so you don’t miss one minute of the concert. The parking garages are open all day and of course there’s plenty of street parking available.  We’re excited to have downtown Huntington full of Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley fans and want to make sure everyone is here safe and ready to party at 7:30,” said Brian Sipe General Manager of the SMG manager Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
