United Way campaign under way

Nov. 20, 2012 @ 11:55 PM

The 2012 campaign is under way for The United Way of the River Cities with a goal of $1.25 million. Reaching that goal helps fund programs for more than 20 Tri-State agencies that provide vital services in Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio. One of those partners is the Developmental Therapy.

Program mission: Developmental Therapy Center (DTC) provides access to evidenced-based, occupational, physical and speech/ language therapy for infants, children and adults in Cabell, Wayne, Mason, Lincoln (West Virginia) and Lawrence (Ohio).

Outcome: At least 85 percent of children referred to DTC for screening for delays/deficits are screened free of charge. At least 85 percent of qualifying patients with a deficit will receive an evaluation. All qualifying patients will have an individualized plan of care tailored to their needs. At least 80 percent of patients will achieve the goals in their treatment plan, while at least 15 percent will make progress toward meeting their goals with the support of their family. Patients, family members and caregivers have access to monthly support groups to share concerns, ask questions, and discuss issues in a forum led by a professional. All services are provided on a sliding fee scale for those who qualify.

How you can help: Give through the campaign where you work or visit www.giveunitedway.org. For more information, contact Scott Neill at scott.neill@unitedwayrivercities.org or 304-523-8929, Ext. 2.
