Local students win trips to D.C.
SOUTH POINT, Ohio -- Two area students recently took part in a tour of Washington, D.C., and other points of interest through the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour.
Hunter Hall of South Point and Jesse Hawks of Vinton, Ohio, were among 40 high school winners to take part in the program.
The students were awarded the tour in a scholastic competition sponsored by Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Rio Grande. The high school juniors joined approximately 1,600 other rural youths representing 43 states. As part of their tour of the nation's capital, students met with members of their Congressional delegation, visited Arlington National Cemetery and attended a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Hall is the daughter of Ronald and Joan Hall, and Hawks is the son of Shawn and Lori Hawks.
