Musical Arts Guild celebration a success
Saturday evening, April 13, Musical Arts Guild of Huntington celebrated its 50th anniversary with dinner and a performance at the Guyan Country Club.
Our celebration was a MARVELOUS success due first of all to the wonderfully creative Don Williams, our director. We extend a HUGE thank you to Don for making us sound so good! Thank you, too, to our awesome audience, our patrons and our sponsors. Your continued support of MAG and our mission makes it possible for us to award scholarships to MU Fine Arts Students in the areas of voice, instrument and theater performance each year.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!

St. Joseph dinner are volunteers appreciated
St. Joseph Central Catholic High School hosted its 17th Annual Irish Auction & Dinner on April 6, 2013, at Pullman Plaza Hotel's Grand Theatre Room. This event was a tremendous success due to all who volunteered their precious time and energy. The elegant centerpieces were donated by Kathy Meehling. Alma Jewell, Melinda Karnes and Leslie Porter deserve an applause for volunteering their time so effortlessly at setting things up and preparing the tables. Phil Chapman, with Vocals Disc Jockey Service, entertained the crowd with fun tunes and his auctioneering expertise.
A huge "Thank You" to all of the area businesses and parents who donated so generously. We would like to recognize the students who volunteered their Saturday evening to the auction: Sarah Mays, John Jewell, Nathaniel Porter and Kevin Reger.
St. Joseph Central Catholic High School would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event a true success!

Lions Club great host of South Point track meet
This is a letter of thanks to the Proctorville/Chesapeake Lions Club for hosting the 46th Annual Lions Club Track Meet recently at South Point High School. The awards, the door prizes and the courteous people made the evening great for all the athletes and spectators. Our teams at Fairland were fortunate enough to bring home the combined trophy for the event.
The trophy has been recently renamed the Jay Jeffrey Holley Trophy, in memory of former Lions Club President Jay Holley's son, who passed away this past year. It just so happens that Jeff was a great runner at Fairland in the '80s, which made receiving a trophy named after him an honor for our school and program.
