MU Theater Alliance to hold tryouts on Aug. 28

Aug. 26, 2013 @ 10:40 PM

HUNTINGTON -- The Marshall Theater Alliance will have an open tryout Wednesday, Aug. 28.

The open auditions will be at 7 p.m. in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse. The plays for the fall semester are "Anna in the Tropics," a historical drama and a new adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein's "Monster." The auditions are open to all Marshall University students.

"Any student who is interested in auditioning for 'Anna in the Tropics' or 'Monster' is encouraged to come in and sign up for a slot. They should present a contemporary monologue for 'Anna in the Tropics.' The director of 'Monster' is asking for a reading of an Edgar Allen Poe poem." said Jack Cirillo, director of Theater at Marshall's College of Arts and Media. "Callbacks for 'Anna In The Tropics' will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 29) in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse. Likewise the callbacks for 'Monster' will be at the same time and same place on Friday (Aug. 30) afternoon. Casting will be officially announced on Tuesday morning and rehearsals for 'Anna in the Tropics' will begin the same day."

"Anna in the Tropics" will run at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse from Oct. 2-5. "Monster" will be at the Francis-Booth Experimental Theater on the weeks of Nov. 13-16 and 21-23.

Casting for the school's spring semester shows "Dead Man's Phone" and "The Taming of the Shrew" will be in December during dead week.
