CHAT: It was great chatting with Velora Frasher, first cousin of my mother, in the parking lot of a local physician office. As other families, there has been much going on including a sister, Leola Mills, celebrating a big birthday in June. Velora doesn't seem to look any older, and is as beautiful as the first time I ever saw her.
NEWBORN: Hailey Grace Campbell was born Aug. 8 to Emily and Michael Campbell. Grandparents are Carolyn and David Campbell of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. May she be brought up in the way of the Lord and never part from it.
BLESSING: May God bless Monsignor Luciana in a special way filled with good gifts, abundant joy and heaven's peace for the love, kindness, reverence and concern he has displayed while ministering to those entrusted to his leadership as he observes a birthday Friday, Aug. 30. He has proven to be a blessing to many in the community.
SWEETIE: Timothy Frye, better known as "Timmy," has always been a sweetheart. He was just a little tyke when my relatives moved into his neighborhood, but has matured into a fellow that loves the Lord and his family. Every time I see him, he is smiling and ready to talk a spell. Here's hoping this young Christian man has a birthday celebration today with gifts galore and whatever else makes him happy.
MEMBER: Charles Michael "Mike" Skeens became a new member at Kenova United Methodist Church in June. May he continue to be blessed with God's love and friendship of those at the church.
RETIRE: Sharon Cox had a birthday Aug. 19 and Friday, Aug. 30, she celebrates another milestone. She's retiring after 39 years with Cabell Huntington Hospital as a nursing administration secretary. May her retirement be filled with years of happiness and good health.

CHUCKLE: Lori left the car unattended for only a minute, but it was long enough for the 2-year-old son to climb in, throw the car into reverse and crash into a lamppost. He was fine, but the car wasn't. The husband had a hard time explaining to the insurance company who was behind the wheel. After a pause, the adjuster asked, "Do you let him drive often?"
