Substitute teacher named 2012 Volunteer of the Year
HUNTINGTON -- A local substitute teacher has been named 2012 Volunteer of the Year by the Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary.
Patricia Cromwell began volunteering at Cabell Huntington Hospital in 2005 and currently serves as treasurer of the auxiliary. Since 2005, she has amassed more than 4,000 volunteer hours. She has been involved in projects and fundraising efforts for the hospital.
Cromwell's teaching career spanned four decades and she continues to substitute teach in Huntington area schools.
"Pat's day to day performance is dependable, consistent and exceeds our customer standards," said Louise Simmons, an auxiliary trustee who nominated Cromwell. "She also demonstrates concern for the welfare and happiness of all patients, visitors and staff. She definitely has a positive effect on others."
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary has raised money for the Hoops Family Children's Hospital, critical care ambulances, completion of the dialysis center and a major gift toward the North Patient Tower construction.
