Boy Scouts: Tri-State Area Council
The 2012 campaign is under way for The United Way of the River Cities with a goal of $1.25 million. Reaching that goal helps fund programs for more than 20 Tri-State agencies that provide vital services in Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio. One of those partners is the Boy Scouts -- Tri-State Area Council.
Program mission: The Council's Scout reach efforts focus on providing Traditional Cub and Boy Scouting in schools where there is a high percentage of students eligible for free/reduced lunches. These school-based units provide alternative educational opportunities.
Outcome: Cub Scouts will demonstrate positive habits, behaviors and attitudes; understand their role as citizens; exhibit maturing characters and spiritual growth; reveal increased abilities to get along with others; and, interact positively with family members. Youth from all demographics will become active members in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
