Tri-State area fireworks displays
Here are some local fireworks displays in honor of Fourth of July. Fireworks start at dusk unless otherwise noted.
ASHLAND'S SUMMER MOTION: The annual Summer Motion fireworks display will be held at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the Ashland Riverfront. If you are not on the riverfront and would like to hear the firework's synchronized music, it will be simulcast from radio stations WTCR 103.3 and B97. For information, go to www.summermotion.com.
BARBOURSVILLE: A concert featuring Dale Jones and the Backyard Dixie Jazz Stompers and the Greater Huntington Symphonic Band will start at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at Barboursville City Park. Concert will be followed by fireworks.
CAMDEN PARK: The amusement park offers performances by Jabberwocky on the midway at 3 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, with fireworks at 10 p.m. There is also 50 percent off regular general admission for all military when they show their military ID at the admission booth. COAL GROVE, OHIO: The Coal Grove Family Fun Days runs Monday through Wednesday, July 1-3, at Paul Porter Park in Coal Grove. Fireworks will be at 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 3.
CHRIST TEMPLE: A Summer Celebration Service, which will conclude with a fireworks display, is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Christ Temple Church, 2400 Johnstown Road, Huntington. The event is designed to honor those who have served in the armed services. Those attending are encouraged to bring a side dish, chips and 2 liter of soda. It will feature special singing, carnival games, inflatables. Huntington Mayor Steve Williams is the guest speaker.
HUNTINGTON: Dawg Dazzle featuring Craig Morgan, Julie Reeves and Taylor Made kicks off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at Harris Riverfront Park. Fireworks will follow. Complimentary tickets will be available in advance at Dutch Miller Hyundai, Chevrolet and Kia, area McDonald's in West Virginia and Kentucky, or at 93.7 the Dawg's new studios in the Kindred Capital Building in Huntington. Tickets can be purchased for $5 the day of the show at the gate.
MILTON: The 4th of July Celebration will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at April Dawn Park with free hot dogs, ice cream and drinks. Entertainment will be provided by The Gracemen, The Road Less Traveled, New Horizon, Samuel Hagley and The Waymarks. Fireworks sponsored by Ohio Valley Bank and Putnam County Banks will be at 10 p.m. at Pumpkin Park.
WEST VIRGINIA POWER IN CHARLESTON: The baseball team will offer a post game celebration on Thursday, July 4, with fireworks as well as a concert by The Davisson Brothers Band. For more information, go to www.wvpower.com.
