MU student receives McDonald's Scholarship
HUNTINGTON -- Kayla Honaker, a Marshall University student and employee at McDonald's, has been awarded a $500 scholarship through the Betty Hadler Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship is locally funded by McDonald's Owner/Operators in the Tri-State area, who know their employees work hard to balance school, work and family. The recipients were selected based on academic achievement, job performance, leadership qualities, school and community involvement and financial need. In addition to the $500 scholarships previously mentioned, two $1,000 and four $2,500 scholarships were also awarded.
Honaker is a student at Marshall majoring in music education. She is a member of the marching band, pep band and has been on the dean's list each semester.
Honaker has worked at a Huntington-area McDonald's for more than two years.
"Kayla is a joy to work with and be around," said Tom Terrell, general manager of McDonald's on 5th Avenue in Huntington. "She is one of our best guest service employees, is very hard working and dependable."
