Community spruces up Southside school landscape

October 06, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Volunteers from a local church joined Southside residents and students and staff from Southside Elementary School to help with landscaping at the school during a Saturday in September.

The group of more than dozen people helped spread mulch, pull weeds and plant bushes and shrubbery around the school. Twenty-two came from Missio Dei Church.

Parents and residents helped raise $1,100 for the landscaping needs, while Blatt's Greenhouse in Lavalette and Lowe's provided discounts for the project. And a dump truck full of mulch was donated by a parent.
