Forming in New York City in 1999, Gogol Bordello spent over a decade putting out acclaimed albums and touring the world with their high energy live show. Gogol Bordello's Trans-Continental Hustle, the group's American Recordings debut, is perhaps the most ambitious undertaking in the group's already remarkable decade-long career and it's the result of an inspired, year-length collaboration with famed producer Rick Rubin. Gogol Bordello is arguably the hardest working - and hardest rocking - group of our discordant new century, maintaining a touring schedule and an onstage energy level that would send the average combo running for the emergency room. While putting out the critically acclaimed Gypsy Punks and SUPER TARANTA! albums, the intrepid band has literally traversed even the farthest corners of the globe, building a substantial world-wide fan base via gigs and festival appearances throughout Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East, along with stops in Australia, Western Europe and in their adopted U.S. homeland. Their encounters and adventures, as well as the band members' own immigrant histories, fuel the subversively upbeat story-songs on Trans-Continental Hustle.
Joining Gogol Bordello in this round of announcements are four more great acts for this year's Nelsonville Music Festival. New Jersey's Screaming Females have 7 years, 4 albums (with a 5th on the way), and 700 shows of their frenetic rock and roll under their belt. Wisconsin's Field Report is the creation of Chris Porterfield, who cut his musical teeth with DeYarmond Edison (the other members included Bon Iver and members of Megafaun) and has drawn admiration from Pitchfork, Spin, and Rolling Stone. And Portland, Oregon's Old Light and Akron, Ohio own soul sensation Wesley Bright & The Hi-Lites cap off this round of announcements.
Described by Andrew Bird from stage in 2012 as being "a hell of a lot better than Coachella", the Nelsonville Music Festival continues to be one of the best in the region and one of the most unique music festivals in the country. Set in the beautiful, rolling hills of Southeast Ohio, this small and intimate festival continues to gain fans who want a music festival with a more personal experience. Catch live music on multiple stages including a small "no-fi" cabin and a picturesque "porch" stage in addition to our main stage.
The Nelsonville Music Festival offers multiple stages of music all weekend long along with camping on site, kids activities, local art vendors, food, and a beer garden. Past performers have included The Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, The Avett Brothers, Iron & Wine, Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Yo La Tengo, George Jones, M.Ward, and many more. The Nelsonville Music Festival is a production of Stuart's Opera House, a historic, non-profit theater located in Nelsonville that features over 75 events a year including live music, theater, films, educational programming and more.
Weekend passes for all four days are on sale now $110, the price will raise from there until the gate price the weekend of the festival of $130 for a weekend pass.
