Bob Zany, Tim Cavanaugh at Ariel on Saturday night
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Comedians Bob Zany & Tim Cavanagh, who regularly appear on “The Bob & Tom” radio show, will be making a special appearance at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Ariel-Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Centre in Gallipolis, OH.
Presented by Rock 105 “Everything That Rocks,” this show is third in a four-part series that includes national comedians Mike Armstrong & Pat Dixon on April 20. Admission is $18.
In 1977, Bob Zany started his career where most performers want to end up --on national television. He appeared on the infamous Gong Show at the age of 15. Halfway through his stand-up routine, which he read from a piece of paper, Zany was pulled off the stage. Eleven years later, Zany made a triumphant return to The Gong Show, this time as a celebrity judge. He ended up making over 100 appearances on national television.
His accomplishments include the the Bob Zany Show (a regular sell out), creation of Bob Zany's Comedy Outlets, with over 50 locations throughout California and Nevada; a comedy album “Hi Home, I'm Honey,” a soon-to-be published diet scrapbook, Laugh at Fat, Bay-bee!, which chronicles his 175-lb weight loss; numerous roles in feature films; and the highlight of his career to date, being hired by his idol, Steve Martin, to appear on “George Burns' Comedy Week.”
Over a period of 25 years, comedian Tim Cavanagh has built a career by being funny and clean. He brings to the stage a B.A. in Philosophy, a background as a religion teacher at an all-girls Catholic high school, and years of nightclub, college, and corporate experience. His unique, upbeat brand of comedy has been showcased on countless radio shows around the country. “The Bob & Tom Show,” heard on 150 stations nationwide, has given Tim a regular outlet for his witty and often topical songs, as well as his almost weekly segment, “Tim Cavanagh’s Cavalcade of Celebrity Birthdays.” Other major radio credits include dozens of appearances on "The Danny Bonaduce Show" and twenty-plus songs featured on "The Dr. Demento Show."
On television, Tim has appeared on a prime time ABC-TV comedy special, as well as on Comedy Central, Showtime, WGN America and Comcast. Chicago Magazine calls Tim "a wonderful original." In Pittsburgh writes that Tim "performs one of the best and cleanest acts on the comedy circuit."
