Paramount announces 2012-13 lineup

ASHLAND -- The 2012-13 Paramount Arts Center season will feature some classic theater and family favorites.

Internet pre-sale tickets will go on sale Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22. Tickets will be available through the box office, 1300 Winchester Ave., on Monday, July 23.

The Broadway Series will feature two performances of the classic musical "West Side Story" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26. Individual tickets range from $40 to $60. The love story features songs such as "Somthing's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere."

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" will take the stage at 7 p.m. Jan. 10. Tickets range from $45 to $65. The smash hit Broadway musical is based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film. The classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes and dazzling production numbers including "Be Our Guest" and the title song.

Finally, "Drumline Live" will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 20. Tickets are $20-$40. The energetic cast has honed its precision and energy with years of training in marching band programs across the southern United States.

The Entertainment Series will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11, with Midtown Men. Tickets range from $35 to $55. This concert tour reunites four stars from the original cast of Broadway's "Jersey Boys. Tony-Award winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and Tony-Award nominee J. Robert Spencer star in this concert that celebrating the music that defined the 1960s.

Next up will be Celtic Nights: Journey of Hope at 7:30 p.m. March 5. Tickets range from $20 to $40. The show features some of the finest female and male voices of the Celtic world showcased against a backdrop of expert dancing and musicianship.

At 7:30 p.m. March 26 will be Elvis Lives. Tickets are $30 to $50. The event will be a concert as well as a multi-media and live musical journey across the life of "The King." The show will feature projection screens displaying footage of Elvis' life and times, his movies and some of his most famous live performances and more.

The Discovery Series will begin with Ken Waldman: And the Secret Visitors at 7 p.m. Nov. 8. Waldman has been called "A one-man Prairie Home Companion." The show features string band music, old-time singing, poetry and storytelling.

Moscow Ballet's "The Nutcracker" will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Tickets range from $35 to $50. This season marks the 20th anniversary of the classic ballet that has become a Christmas holiday must-see.

"Romeo and Juliet" will take the stage at 7 p.m. Jan. 14. Tickets are $12. Shakespeare's most enduring tale will be re-imagined, re-invigorated and irresistibly visceral.

The Paramount Players will also have six shows as part of the 2012-13 season. That schedule will feature "Disney's Camp Rock" on Aug. 2-4, "Schoolhouse Rock Live" on Sept. 25, "Miracle on 34th Street" Dec. 6-8, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" on Dec. 13, An Evening of Romance (featuring short plays and local soloists) on Feb. 14, and "The Wizard of Oz" on March 14-16.
