List of state parks and ski resorts for your New Year's eve plans

With three great state park systems and a slew of ski resorts, we have a ton of cool options for folks wanting an inside/outside party somewhere in the wilds of our woods.

Here's a look at some of the New Year's Eve parties and events planned at resort parks around the region.

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park, Argillite, Ky.

THE FRIENDS OF GREENBO LAKE WILL HOST A NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY at 8 p.m. You can purchase tickets in advance by contacting Deloris Bentley at 606-922-3545 or Bobby Allen at 606-923-8800. Advance tickets are $30 per single/$50 per couple. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $35 per single/$60 per couple. Lodging is available at Greenbo Lake's Jesse Stuart Lodge for $49.95. Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Prestonsburg, Ky.

THE GOLDEN GALS' HOLIDAY MYSTERY PARTY, "THE CURSE OF JESSICA FLETCHER," will run Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28-29. Enjoy mystery, laughs and suspense, and put your detective hat on as you attempt to figure out mystery. Shows are Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. or Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. Buffet dinner and show is only $35 per person and group rates are available. For reservations call 800-325-0142.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, Mount Olivet, Ky.

COMEDY IN THE PARKS: Join Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park for an evening of extravagant dining and comedy entertainment. Louisville stand-up comedian Mike Nilsson will perform. Afterwards, stay for music and bring in the New Year with the ones you love. The dance floor will in place and a large projection TV will broadcast what's going on around the country when the clock strikes midnight. The dinner and show is $55 per couple plus tax. Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin, Ky.

NEW YEAR'S EVE BASH AND NEW YEAR'S DAY HIKE: Bring your special someone for a night of entertainment and relaxation at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. The annual New Year's Eve Bash is 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dance music will be played by local favorite DJ Jeff Petrey of Radio Active Sounds. The park is offering a special package for $164.95. It includes dinner, dance, a lodge room and brunch for two. There's also a cottage package available for $194.95 that includes a cottage, dinner, dance and breakfast for two. On Tuesday, New Year's Day, Cumberland Falls will participate in a national event called First Day Hikes, which is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles at America's state parks. Twin Falls Resort State Park, Mullens, W.Va.

NEW YEAR'S AROUND THE WORLD: Dec. 31. End the year with dinner, dancing, refreshments, and a New Year's toast at Twin Falls. The celebration has an international theme and guests can come dressed as a tourist or as a person from any country. There will also be a continuous slideshow with scenes of international landmarks. Canaan Resort, Davis, W.Va.

NEW YEAR'S BASH: Dec. 31. Ring in the New Year with two great party options. Family party includes buffet dinner, family games and DJ entertainment, punch toast at midnight and party favors. The adult party includes buffet dining in the Hickory Room, access to the lounge party with live entertainment, plus champagne toast and party favors. North Bend State Park, Cairo, W.Va.

NEW YEAR'S EVE BASH: Dec. 31. Count down the old and ring in the New Year at North Bend State Park! Blackwater Falls State Park, Davis, W.Va.

NEWS YEAR'S EVE DANCE: Dec. 31, 2012, concludes at Blackwater Falls with a dinner buffet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., a variety of music by DJ Dan Barkley, dance, hors d'oeuvres and a champagne toast. The dance begins at 9 p.m. Overnight package with lodging, dance, dinner buffet, and "good morning" breakfast is $200.99 per couple; dinner and dance only is $70.40 per couple; dinner/entertainment for children option is $20 per child.
