Feb. 08, 2013 @ 12:05 AM

HUNTINGTON -- Local organizations are providing support for Branches Domestic Violence Shelter.

Branches is collecting formalwear and accessories for the fourth semi-annual Dresses for Domestic Peace Sale.

Branches Domestic Violence Shelter is partnering with True Blue Salon, at the East Gate Shopping Center, 3677 U.S. 60 East, Barboursville, (behind Outback Steakhouse), to host a Prom Dress Drive from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.

Drop off new or like new formal wear and accessories at the Salon. Dresses donated should be clean and on hangers. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact Branches Domestic Violence Shelter at 304-529-2382.

Dresses will be sold Sunday, March 10, at a fraction of the retail price, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Branches.

Marshall University's Alpha Chi Omega sorority along with Alpha Tau Omega fraternity are also making a donation to the shelter on Tuesday. Feb. 12. Both groups will be presenting the valentines to a representative from Branches. Alpha Chi Omega President Jamie Williams will be presenting a check to Branches for the amount of $574.21. The money is from a number of Alpha Chi Omega events from last semester.

Branches Domestic Violence Shelter was established as a non-profit agency in 1980. Branches works to empower the increasing number of victims and their families to break the cycle of domestic violence in our area. Aside from providing housing; Branches offers legal assistance, counseling, and case management to ready our clients to become independent.

Currently Branches has one operational housing shelter and four outreach offices located in adjoining counties, Mason, Putnam, Wayne, and Lincoln, to provide additional resources.
