Food Bank sponsors coloring contest

Feb. 17, 2013 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- The Huntington Area Food Bank is sponsoring a coloring contest for elementary students in the 17 counties served by the organization.

Children are being asked to design the food bank's new thank-you cards, with the theme of food fun. Four winners will be chosen, and designs will be printed postcards and sent to food bank donors. Each winner will receive a $50 gift card to Walmart.

Designs must be 4 inches by 6 inches, or standard postcard size, and done in crayon or marker. All entries must have an entry form signed by a parent or guardian.

The winner's first name, age, town and school will be printed along with their design through the year to say thank you to the people and businesses that contribute to the Huntington Area Food Bank.

Submissions must be postmarked by March 15, and winners will be announced April 1. Four winning entries will be chosen based on originality by a panel of judges.

The eligible counties include Boone, Cabell, Jackson, Kanawha, Logan, Mason, McDowell, Mingo, Putnam, Wayne and Wyoming in West Virginia; Boyd, Greenup, Lawrence and Martin in Kentucky; and Lawrence County, Ohio.

Entries can be send to Huntington Area Food Bank, 1327 7th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701

The food bank serves nearly 100,000 people every month and use the money contributed from donors to purchase and deliver food in 17 counties in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.
