Portsmouth Brewing Company tour set for 5 p.m. Friday
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The historic Portsmouth Brewing Company is celebrating its 170th anniversary in 2013, and they are celebrating their way into this momentous year with expansion that includes new fermenters at the brewery and distribution expansion as well.
The brewery, which now has bottled beer (Portsmouth Pilsner, Red Bird Ale and Peerless Pale Ale) being distributed as far west as Cincinnati and which is sold locally at Leo’s in South Point, is also beginning free brewery tour.
The Brew House Tours are free and open to the public at 5 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of the month. The next tour is set for 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. The tours include Brewery History, Brewing 101 and a question and answer session. The brewery’s craft beer taps include: Portsmouth Pilsner, Red Bird Ale, Peerless Pale Ale, Imperial Steam Ale, Babe's Brown Porter and Heffeweisbier.
