Pullman Plaza Hotel hosting stand up comedy events
HUNTINGTON -- Stand up comedy returns to Huntington as Kyova Comedy has announced its first monthly stand up comedy show featuring nationally recognized headliner Michael Malone and featured performer Andy Beningo.
Tickets are $10 and on sale now for the shows on Friday and Saturday, July 18-19 at the Pullman Plaza Hotel Ballroom in Huntington.
There will be two shows each night at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available now online at kyovacomedy.com and via phone at 855-944-4242.
"There has been an absence of stand up comedy in our area," said Alex Hackney, Kyova Comedy owner, in a news release. "We are bringing that back to allow our guests to see some hilarious comedians and have a great night out. It's something completely different to do in our area without driving an hour or more to another city.
"We've partnered with a nationally known talent agency, Funny Business, to bring in the best talent we can, every show," he added. "In addition to having the show at the Pullman Plaza Hotel, which is a great intimate venue for this type of show, ticket prices are very affordable which we think people will see value in."
Malone is best known for his top-10 selling comedy album debut on iTunes and "rubber face."
Malone's blistering humor and irreverent views on life, love and personal tragedy have earned him the recognition "Hot Comic to Watch in 2013" and winner of the prestigious 33rd Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition in 2012.
Malone's been featured on the Bob and Tom, made appearances on WGN TV, National Lampoon's Operation Comedy Tour, NBC-TV, XM Sirius Satellite radio and the CW. He also has two top-10 selling comedy albums on iTunes.
Featured performer Andy Beningo was named "Best Comedian" by the Detroit Metro Times.
Beningo is a regular guest on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show. He has been heard on XM Sirius Radio and over seas on the American Forces Network. He was a final four finalist on CMT's 'Next Big Comic,' and has appeared on the NBC affiliate show, 'Night Shift with Kevin Ferguson.' He performed at the Clean Comedy Festival, where he was voted an "audience favorite" and named "Best New Comer" to the festival.
