CAFE Huntington's December meal set for 6 tonight at library

Dec. 04, 2012 @ 11:12 AM

HUNTINGTON —  CAFE Huntington (Creative Arts Funding Endeavor) will host a special holiday December CAFE meal set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the community meeting room on the third floor of the main Cabell County Public Library, 455 9th St., Huntington.

Admission to the community meal is $10.  At CAFE, attendees share a meal, cooked by volunteers, and at meal's end, people vote on which artists or project will get the money collected at the dinner.

CAFE has funded such things as: Huntington Dance Theatre, goat-cheese makers, a local puppet comedy troupe, a print-maker, Tri-State Youth Orchestra, a potter, a family-run organic farm and more.

Up to five artists can present project in hopes of gaining the collective money (anywhere from $280 to $720 so far) as well as gaining needed exposure and networking to get their ideas off the ground.

So far, three artists have signed up to present at the CAFE. CAFE is still accepting artists to present at the December CAFE dinner as well as volunteers to help cook for the meal.

If you would like to volunteer, email Simone Kompanek at simone@cafehuntington.com

Tickets can be bought in advance via the website (www.cafehuntington.com) or at the door with cash, check or credit card.

You can find CAFE on Twitter as @CafeHuntington at https://twitter.com/CafeHuntington as well as on Facebook and at www.cafehuntington.com.
