Jane Edelen and Nikki Fisher attended the Women Build 2009 Kick-off Party on Aug. 15, at Weight Watchers in Huntington.
HUNTINGTON — Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with Weight Watchers of West Virginia, kicked off the 2009 Women Build Aug. 15, at Weight Watchers.
With an initial contribution of $5,000, Weight Watchers launches a campaign to raise $40,000 for Habitat’s 2009 Women Build, a house to be constructed primarily by women volunteers. Donation boxes will be placed at all Weight Watchers locations.
The home will be the second home designated as a “Women Build” by the affiliate in the past two years, and it will add to the more than 1,000 Habitat for Humanity houses built by women throughout the United States. As a program under-written by Lowe’s, Women Build encourages women to address critical poverty issues by building homes for families in need. Women of all skill levels are invited to pick up hammers and power tools to help a local family in need.
