HUNTINGTON -- The Central City Farmers Market will open on Saturday, June 28, at 555 14th Street West.

It goes on in the sheltered area adjacent to the Central City Market building, formerly a bulk foods store and now home to 14 West Senior Center, which opened this week.

Hours for the farmers market will be 7 a.m. until the food is gone on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through October. There even will be some musical entertainment during the market hours on Saturdays this summer, said Scott Perry, manager of the Central City Market.

Preston Farms opened for the season in April with a spring flower market and could be selling locally grown strawberries within the next couple of weeks, Perry said. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Farmers from a 40-mile radius will be selling locally grown produce when the farmers market opens, with the earliest crops likely to be tomatoes and green beans, Perry said. Corn usually comes by July 4, he said.

"We like to say, if you buy fresh, you buy quality," Perry said. For more information, call 304-525-1500 or visit www. centralcitymarket.com.
