City National Bank breaks ground near new I-64 exit

March 27, 2008 @ 01:31 PM

HURRICANE — City National Bank broke ground on new construction just off the I-64 Hurricane exit on Thursday, March 20.

The 4,200-square-foot branch office will be located at the corner of Hurricane Creek Road and Raymond Peak Way, across from the new Wal-Mart Super Center and adjacent to the Saturn car dealership.

Finalizing plans just over a year ago, Executive Vice President Craig Stilwell said, “We realized the amount of growth in the area and wanted to provide a full-service branch with drive up service also.

“We’re just excited to get this going.”

Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said the city is looking forward to having a bank like City National in the community.

“This area needs it.  This intersection needs it.  It’s a great location.”

He added that banks draw other business in, and that “hopefully they’ll be able to work with a lot of the businesses coming to the community.”

Mandy Curry, regional manager for City’s Putnam County branches, said the new branch is good for Putnam County.

“I’m thrilled that we are expanding our presence in the Hurricane area,” she said.

“This full-service facility, just off one of the state’s most traveled roads, will give City excellent visibility — and our customers will enjoy increased access.”

The new branch will create approximately six new jobs and is anticipated to open in August.
