TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. -- The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce plans to conduct a nine-week course in April designed to educate individuals on community issues and county decision making processes.
Registration is closed at this time, but you are encouraged to mark your calendars for next year if you are interested in attending, as slots fill quickly.
Sherry Chapman, chamber office manager, explains that the program is a good resource for many in the community, especially those new in a leadership role in Putnam County.
"Last year was my first year to attend it. Even though I've worked in the county for 20 years, I found it really interesting," Chapman said.
Each week, the class will meet at a different location -- such as the judicial building, water plant and Board of Education -- where they will participate in discussions on topics to include Library Services/Improving Personal & Team Performance, County Government, Water Production/Tour, Education, Health Care Facilities, Criminal Justice, Power Production/Environmental Concerns, Health/Physical Fitness and Automotive and Manufacturing/Economic Development/Tour.
This will be the 19th year that the chamber has offered this course, which is scheduled to begin Wednesday, April 2.
