W.Va. unveils trucks to help seniors get meals
CHARLESTON (AP) — West Virginia is providing 17 new trucks that will deliver meals to senior citizens as part of an effort to expand in-home services.
The trucks were bought with a grant through the state Bureau of Senior Services. The grant was made possible through table games licensing fees paid by Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in Chester and the Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack.
Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center in Nitro made a donation toward the purchase.
Bureau of Senior Services Commissioner Sandy Vanin says the trucks can hold up to 200 meals apiece.
The trucks will serve Barbour, Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Doddridge, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Harrison, McDowell, Mineral, Morgan, Nicholas, Pleasants, Preston, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane and Upshur counties.
