Wireless headsets enhance efficiency for employees

WINFIELD, W.Va. — Wireless headsets are allowing some county employees to work more efficiently.

Roughly a year ago, Dessie Hardway, Putnam County magistrate assistant, spearheaded discussions on the purchase of wireless headsets as a means to allow her to better multitask in her own office. 

She said that with filing, faxing, copying or document delivery throughout the building, “Every time the phone would ring, you’d have to drop what you were doing and go answer the phone. And most of the time, people just have questions that I can answer without stopping my work.” 

Now, most county employees have their own $300 headset, purchased through Express Printing of Huntington.

Hardway said that the devices allow workers to maneuver nearly the entire floor space of the building and this means, “We can really make such better use of our time.”

Magistrate clerk Louise Gunnoe shared in Hardway’s excitement, saying that the headsets have really made things better for the staff. “They can get up and move around without being tied to their desks all the time.”
